IMPORTANT: You will only see the illusion if your display has high contrast. To maximize contrast, view in a dark room with the monitor turned all the way up. The movie must also play with a certain speed and smoothness for the illusion to work. To maximize speed and smoothness you should quit all other applications. If you can, you should try both the Shockwave and the Quicktime version. Performance, and whether it displays at all, depends on your particular computer, web browser, web browser version, web browser configuration, and plugin versions.

While viewing the movie you should look directly at the yellow spot at all times. The dark regions between the yellow spot and the discs are the spokes illusion. The dark regions beyond the white discs are the wakes illusion. More regarding this distinction and the nature of the illusions can be found in our papers.
