About Dr. Kang Lee

Meet Our Research Team!

Dr. Kang Lee PhD., Professor & Director, Institute of Child Study
kang.lee at utoronto.ca

Dr. Kang Lee studies face processing in children and adults. Dr. Lee uses psychophysical methods to study how children and adults process both stable and dynamic information in a face. With regards to stable facial information processing, he focuses on how children and adults perceive, encode, and recognize different kinds of faces. With regards to dynamic facial information processing, he studies how children and adults detect and interpret others’ gaze displays in various social contexts. In addition, he explores neuro-physiological correlates of face processing in children and adults.

Andrea Wheeler, Research Officer, Institute of Child Study
andrea.wheeler at utoronto.ca

Andrea is currently working on several studies within the Early Social Development Lab. On-going studies include work on inversion effects in infants and infant's labelling of faces. Her outside research interests include a wide variety of topics including: face processing in clinical populations and neuro-physiological correlates of face processing in typically developing and clinical populations.

Gizelle Anzures (Doctoral Candidate), Human Development and Applied Psychology, OISE/UT
gizelle.anzures at utoronto.ca

Gizelle is currently working on her Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Kang Lee. Gizelle completed her undergraduate studies at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario with Dr. Catherine J. Mondloch. She went on to complete her Master's degree here at the University of Toronto under Dr. Lee. Her research interests include the development of face processing abilities in infants, children, and adults. On-going studies include infants' facial preferences, facial recognition, and facial categorization. Previous and current studies with children and adults include face adaptation and attractiveness aftereffects and accuracy in facial age judgments.

Lisa Hong (Master's Student), Human Development and Applied Psychology, OISE/UT

Lisa is currently completing her MA under the suprevision of Dr. Kang Lee. Lisa completed her undergraduate degree at Queen's University in Kingston. Ontario. She then went on to work at Harvard University and The Ohio State University before returning to Toronto to undertake graduate studies. Lisa's research interests include the developmental trajectory of face processing, particularly how children and adults come to process faces holistically.
